Welcome to North Hyde Park

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Village Improvement Event last month. Did you have a chance to test out our temporary crosswalks?

While the two crosswalks were just a test, it represents an important step towards building a more connected, walkable neighborhood. We're thankful for the help of VTrans, Lamoille County Planning Commission, the town's road crew, and the assistance of the Small Grants for Smart Growth Fund of the Vermont Natural Resources Council. During the test period, volunteers did counts of pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the village, useful data to help us make the case for permanent traffic slowing and safety improvements.

The Hyde Park Planning Commission will be meeting at Gihon Valley Hall on Monday, August 8 at 6pm with an agenda that's largely focused on North Hyde Park. The commission would like to hear suggestions and concerns on future land development in the Village. The meeting will include a mapping activity to guide the drafting of new North Hyde Park zoning regulations.

Other topics of discussion at the meeting will be a new project to develop welcome signs on each end of North Hyde Park Village and a potential project to develop a village gateway park or public space. Curious? Come on by!

And looking ahead, be sure to mark your calendars for more events at Gihon Valley Hall:

  • Aug 10 - Fire District Meeting

  • Oct 1 - Fall Festival with covers band She Was Right

  • Nov 5 - Modern Times Theater Presents

  • Fall (various dates) - Lamoille River Dancers Country Dance Classes

All are also welcome to join our monthly committee meetings, via Zoom or in person at the Hall. Second and fourth Mondays at 6pm.
