The Gihon Valley Hall Committee formed organically out of the town's Historical Sites Committee when our group found its focus in the restoration of the old Grange Hall on Rt. 100.
Over the past few years we've also become the de facto group for all things to do with North Hyde Park Village community development. This includes our role helping Lamoille County Planning Commission in its work to develop a "Main Street Initiative" to help calm traffic and make our village more walkable and livable.
Starting in mid-July we're excited to invite folks to the village and to Gihon Valley Hall to experience one of the initial activations of that plan, a first-of-its-kind installation of temporary crosswalks across the state highway in North Hyde Park Village. There will be one crosswalk at Gihon Valley Hall and another at the post office.
Come try out the temporary crosswalks and visit Gihon Valley Hall between 11am-1pm on Sunday, July 17th to learn about and weigh in on other NHP improvement efforts:
Designing Welcome to North Hyde Park Signs
Creating a Village Gateway Park near 100C
Renovating the Historic Gihon Valley Hall
"Knot in Hyde Park" Knotweed Management Project
And if you need another reason to come by, there will be free iced coffee and strawberry shortcakes courtesy of the Gihon Valley Hall Committee! We'll also have a self-guided village history tour by local historian Monica Heath.
All are also welcome to join our monthly committee meetings, via Zoom or in person at the Hall. Second and fourth Mondays at 6pm.
