The 2023 Season Begins

The spring thaw has begun and so have our plans to kick off the 2023 season of Gihon Valley Hall events!

Our first public event will be a FREE theatrical reading of the play 'Barrymore' performed by our theater director Dr. Russ Longtin and actor Tracy Adair. 'Barrymore' is a two-person play by William Luce which depicts John Barrymore a few months before his death in 1942 as he is rehearsing a revival of his 1920 Broadway triumph as Richard III. This event will be Sunday April 30 at 2pm.

Dr. Longtin will be hosting another free theater event the following weekend, May 6th at 1pm, offering an afternoon workshop on the fundamentals of auditioning. Then people are invited to try out their new skills by auditioning on Sunday May 7 at 2pm for our June production of 'The Laramie Project.'

Both workshop and auditions are free to attend, and there's no obligation to workshop in order to audition, or to audition after the workshop -- but we hope you'll partake in both! To register, call 802-635-7713 or email longtinr@comcast.net. There will be roles for adults and young adults.

We're grateful to have Russ on our committee to bring live theater to our historic stage!

Also May 6th will be our annual Green Up Day celebration. Stop by the hall from 9am-12pm to get bags for Vermont's roadside clean up holiday, plus the hall will be open for a seed and seedling swap and our always-popular pie sale. Proceeds will help with our ongoing hall renovation efforts.

Welcome spring! We look forward to seeing you soon.
