Live Music and Theater are Back!

When we first reopened this old Grange Hall a few years ago, we couldn't wait to welcome live bands and theater performances to the stage. We also couldn't have imagined the enormous pause the world of live events was about to take while we lived through a pandemic.

But we made the best of it. During that pause we were able to do a lot of important work to prepare the Gihon Valley Hall to welcome live events once again. And with that we were so proud to host some fantastic talent (and wonderful audience members!) this fall.

In case you missed it, indie rock bands Lake Waves and Algae performed a killer set that gave us our first taste of what a full, electrified, amplified, and –– thanks to our new stage lights –– well-lit rock show is like in the hall. It sounded and look great! Here's a teaser video.

We also hosted Modern Times Theater who performed their new show "We're Not From Here," a quirky blend of schtick, songs, and old timey vaudeville. The show was tailor made for historic spaces like ours and has been touring the region this fall. There was a huge turnout –– a great way to wrap up our season!

As winter approaches, the Gihon Valley Hall will once again be lit up with a giant wreath for the holidays. You can sponsor a light through our friends at the Hyde Park Community Circle; order form here. This year's lighting ceremony will take place in Hyde Park Village at the LCSD Community Building.

Thanks everyone for another great season of fun in North Hyde Park! Our volunteer committee will continue to meet throughout the winter on the 4th Mondays of the month. Starting in December meetings will be Zoom only (passcode: 313040) while the hall is buttoned up for the winter.
