We kicked off the fall with a Harvest Hootenanny that brought live music to our main stage for the first time in a long while! Due to a trio of unexpected circumstances, our headlining band was unable to play, but our friend Danny Granstaff saved the day by turning his opening act into a full length double set where he entertained us with old timey favorites, rock n roll classics, and a few of his own improvisational wonders. The GVH committee kept everyone well fed with slices of pie and grilled hot dogs, and the Spitzer family kept the fun going with karaoke.
October and November will be busy at Gihon Valley Hall with several public events (and some private parties too -- we're available to rent!)
Friday, October 14, 8pm: Burlington indie punk bands Lake Waves and Algae will be visiting, and we couldn't be more excited. Check out Lake Waves' new album Tricky Friends. There will be a $10 cover at the door. All ages are welcome.
Saturday, October 22, 1pm: After 50 years as professor, director, actor, and workshop leader, Dr. Russ Longtin is hosting a half-day acting workshop. The class will explore the relationship between actor, character, text, and story. This workshop is a service to the theater community without charge. Saturday, November 5, 7pm: Arriving from elsewhere, just in time for the show, veteran vaudeville entertainers Rose Friedman and Justin Lander of Modern Times Theater will present a million years in just under 75 minutes. "We're Not From Here" is a carpetbag of old fashioned amusements. Music, puppetry, and schtick. They will attempt to summon the ghosts from the attic to answer our most pressing questions, including “How did we get here?”, “Where are we going?”, and “Can’t you do that somewhere else?” Suggested donation of $10-25 per ticket. Please reserve your tickets here and pay upon arrival at the box office.
And of course, all are welcome to join our monthly GVH Committee Meetings, now on the 4th Monday of the month. 6pm at the Hall or via Zoom (passcode: 313040).
